Plant Based Ice Cream

This frozen dessert is yummy, healthy and quick to prepare. It's melts quicker than ice cream so you'd better eat it quickly! When you've got some ripe bananas not destined for muffins, cut them up and store them in a container in the freezer for when you or the kids need a quick sweet treat. You can make all sorts of flavours; mint chocolate, vanilla, chocolate orange.

You will need a high powered blender or food processor for this. I use my thermomix.


3 frozen bananas, chopped

2 tbsp cocoa powder or cacao

1/2 cup of almond milk (or other nut/oat milk)

1/4 cup dark choc chips (optional)


Put half of the bananas and milk into a blender. Pulse until smooth. It might take a few goes.

Add the rest of the banana and milk, pulse until mixture is smooth.

Add cocoa powder or whatever flavoring you choose. Pulse again to mix.

Stir in chocolate chips or sprinkle them on top.

You can eat it straight away, but I like to put it back in the freezer for 10 mins before serving.
